They had obviously internalized her as a real person- the power of your writing.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15503177269664255924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798666792536941164.post-56000908998138760942012-07-05T10:59:40.150-07:002012-07-05T10:59:40.150-07:00Hi Melanie

I'm glad that you enjoyed the story and got to like Princess. It may sound ridiculous, but every now and then I think of her, (as if she's real) and I smile or frown, or roll my eyes, depending on what I remember her saying or doing. I think I should also be grateful that I was able to create her, that she came to me. Thanks again Melanie and I wish you all the best with your writing.
DianeDiaen Brownehttp://dianebrowneblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798666792536941164.post-91936408905648735532012-07-05T08:41:44.282-07:002012-07-05T08:41:44.282-07:00Hello Diane,
Helen (above) sent your book to us ...Hello Diane,

Helen (above) sent your book to us in her writing group here in the States, and I very much enjoyed Island Princess in Brooklyn. I actually thought it might be a series. Princess is a richly drawn character; I loved getting to know her by how she sees her world and others. I loved how you worked out her relationship with her mother - it felt like a very honest, natural progression, and it kept my hope up that things would work out between them up to the very end. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely piece of children's literature! PS - I adore the dialect!Melanie K Woodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09935080046877925845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798666792536941164.post-43024744636933216752011-12-07T15:29:00.625-08:002011-12-07T15:29:00.625-08:00We just have to keep on promoting, Helen. I think that all of us together might make a difference.Diane Brownehttp://dianebrowneblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798666792536941164.post-51804963275284658742011-12-07T09:36:56.171-08:002011-12-07T09:36:56.171-08:00Congratulations on the launch, Diane.

I hope your launch gets the coverage it deserves.Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16743130026557678304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798666792536941164.post-89701332749219373812011-12-03T05:27:48.675-08:002011-12-03T05:27:48.675-08:00Thanks Geoffrey. Yes, we must press on because I sense almot a reblooming (can one have a reblooming?)of Caribbean/West Indian Literature. And perhaps this is how the social network has worked for us - because here in the Caribbean I don't think we feel the impact through sales - but we know that we are all producing, and that is wonderful encouragment. Perhaps for now, even enough.Diane Brownehttp://dianebrowneblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2798666792536941164.post-44618797785348875902011-12-03T01:33:36.295-08:002011-12-03T01:33:36.295-08:00Congratulations, Diane.
